Closing Date: Open Until Filled Primary Purpose: The teacher will be responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in welding. The teacher will also prepare students to develop the competencies and skills required to earn various welding certifications. Important job functions include teaching the curriculum and managing student behavior/safety within classroom/shop settings.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: Option 1: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for the subject and level assigned Option 2: An associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution Two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching Option 3: A high school diploma or equivalent Five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and be able to drive district vehicles and haul trailers. Special Knowledge/Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in safety, handling, and proper use of commercial power tools and non-commercial power tools (drill, jigsaw, router, circular saw, etc.) Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, peers, parents, administrators, business partners, and others in the community. Ability to create and manage interactive, innovative, hands-on projects for student engagement and effectively teach and work with high school students. Have a working knowledge of the objectives and TEKS of courses in the program. Experience/Certifications: Preferred Experience in the Agriculture industry and FFA organization. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification. Meet NCCER Craft Instructor Requirements (one of the options listed below). Work experience at a minimum journey level or licensed technician level (at least 4 years) in a Welding-related field. A minimum of 3 years of teaching welding or other maintenance-related training Salary: Teacher / 215 days
