What You Will Contribute To Altos

The In Vivo Hub functions as a central resource team dedicated to facilitating the development and execution of in vivo models and studies. The role of In Vivo Hub Research Associate is pivotal in providing comprehensive support to core operations and directly reporting to the In Vivo Hub Manager. A primary focus of this role involves maintaining breeding colonies and conducting in vivo studies for rodent models, which are crucial to achieving our mission. Ideal candidates have a genuine passion for biology, are curious, have demonstrated knowledge with in vivo studies, a strong eye for detail, an eagerness to learn new techniques, and a collaborative approach to scientific discovery.

Responsibilities:

  • Colony management of genetically engineered mouse models.
  • Work very closely with scientists to determine breeding needs and directions.
  • Complete daily husbandry tasks including ongoing study monitoring, breeding, weaning, microchipping, and genotyping.
  • Provides technical support for scientists and is proficient in multiple dosing routes, cardiac perfusion, blood and tissue collection.
  • Train and supervise animal technicians and vivarium users.
  • Help with the continuing improvement of current SOPs and ensure that the appropriate SOPs are followed by all vivarium users.
  • Adhere to animal welfare rules and regulations as instructed by management.
  • Share weekend and holiday hours (only when needed) with peers on a rotational basis.
  • Being responsible for equipment maintenance, ensuring sufficient inventory, ordering and restocking supplies.

Who You Are

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Science or related field
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in industry or academia.
  • Experience of working with -genetically engineered mouse models or mouse models of human disease.
  • Proficiency with mouse breeding strategies and the expected genotype(s) resulting from breeding pairs.
  • Broad and extensive expertise with all aspects of in vivo science (various dosing routes, anesthesia, surgical procedures, necropsy, tissue processing, etc.) in both mice and rats 
  • Strong communication and accurate record-keeping skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer skills and MS Office software. (Knowledge of Softmouse and Benchling will be a plus).
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and willing to meet strict deadlines.
  • Open to learn new cutting-edge techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, team-based environment.
  • Ability to work well with a wide variety of people at all levels and from all backgrounds.
  • Ability to be a team player who can work effectively both independently and as part of a larger group..

Preferred Qualifications

  • AALAS certification (ALAT or higher) is preferred

The salary range for Redwood City:

  • Research Associate I: $83,300 - $112,700
