QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

  • B.S. in Human Services or related field, and two years’ experience in the field of substance abuse counseling.
  • Montana State Licensed Addictions Counselor.
  • Good writing and verbal skills.
  • Must have experience and demonstrated ability in records management.
  • A current, valid Montana Driver’s License.

PREFERRED:

  • Ability to supervise Licensed Addiction Counselor Candidates.
  • Experience working with offenders and/or experience working in a residential treatment facility.
  • Two years’ experience in social services in a counseling or case management position.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices and cognitive behavioral programming.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The current starting salary for the position is $32.00 per hour.

This is a position funded by the COAP Grant, ending September 30, 2024. Possible full-time permanent position available starting October 1, 2024, to be discussed after successful completion of COAP Grant Position.

Permanent full-time employees of Alternatives, Inc. are entitled to sick leave, vacation leave, individual health insurance, and retirement benefits. Alternatives, Inc. participates in the State Workers Compensation and Unemployment Insurance plans.

Permanent part-time employees are entitled to a pro-rata share of benefits based on the percentage of full-time hours worked (full-time = 40 hours per week).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Overview:

The Lead Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) is directly accountable to the Program Supervisor (PS) of the designated program and/or facility.

The Lead Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) is responsible for substance use disorder treatment. LACs work directly with adult offenders in residential and/or community corrections facilities. They participate in individual sessions, develop individual treatment plans with the residents to address substance abuse disorders, and support Program Supervisors with department needs and training of LAC Candidates. In addition, LACs facilitate groups and programming in accordance with agency-approved models.

General Requirements:

Specific Duties:

The Lead LAC will provide the following services to clients/offenders enrolled in substance use disorder (SUD) programming:

  • Assist the Program Supervisor in observing staff to guide staff development, review processes, and activities that will measure program fidelity and assess the quality of the group facilitation process and individual sessions.
  • Participate in auditing of program treatment files for clinical content and review of processes to evaluate efficiencies.
  • Provide treatment services under the parameters of the COAP Grant.
  • Complete detailed tracking and documentation for COAP grant reporting purposes within grant requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Program Supervisor to develop training schedules, protocols, and discussion of supervision for clinical hours of hired ACLCs – training to include screening, documentation, assessments, individual and group sessions, competencies, and ethics. Adherence to Board of Behavioral Health’s standards required.
  • Review client files to assess substance use disorder evaluation needs.
  • Administer all necessary assessments and make recommendations regarding substance use disorder issues and referrals.
  • Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions regarding substance use disorder issues with clients.
  • Provide treatment in group settings regarding substance use disorder issues.
  • Make referrals to a variety of social services and medical resources.
  • Document all contracts, significant issues, and general progress in the resident case file.
  • Complete discharge summaries for all group participants in a timely manner.
  • Ensure each offender has a written treatment plan which delineates what the offender will accomplish while in the program, associated timelines and detailed plans for accomplishing goals, and documentation of compliance with the contract. Ensure that the plan is reviewed and updated periodically in accordance with the planned duration of treatment and phases of the program.
  • Coordinate aftercare plans with Pre-Release Centers and Probation Officers or other referral sources prior to the offender’s termination from the program.
  • Attend weekly Staff Meetings.
  • This position may require working the hours of a flexible or varied schedule.
