Alternative Correctional Services is a small private probation business in Kingsport, TN. Our goal is to to help ensure the successful reintegration of offenders into society by collaborating with the court system to aid in rehabilitating of offenders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, psychology, or criminal justice and be able to provide comprehensive assessments of individuals on probation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and monitoring a caseload to enforce the terms of their probation and provide guidance and support that ensures offenders are complying with any orders from the court. They must also have excellent communication skills and be able to effectively interact with both offenders and other members of the community.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and enforce court-ordered probation conditions.
• Conduct interviews with probationers.
• Provide support services to probationers and their families.
• Develop and implement individualized case plans for probationers.
• Maintain accurate records of all activities related to the probationer's case.
• Make recommendations to the court regarding the probationer's progress.
• Collaborate with other agencies to ensure the safety of the community.

Essential Job Functions:

• Manages a caseload by meeting with offenders on a weekly or monthly basis to ensure the offenders are following all rules of the court and completing all requirements and reporting all violations to court.
• Perform observed alcohol and drug screens.
• Files and organizes paperwork.
• Accepts, receives, and/or collects payments.
• Work in the courtroom as offenders are referred to ACS for supervision, community service, driving school, or DUI school.
• File Violation Of Probation warrants with the courts.
• Perform other job related duties, as needed.

• Knowledge of court policies, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of departmental practices and systems.
• Knowledge of human behavior and performance regarding individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, learning, and motivation.
• Skilled in using computers.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and an orientation toward customer service.
• Ability to organize and communicate effectively.
• Ability to maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Driver's License.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
