Altamira Material Solutio is Hiring a CNC Lathe Team Lead (2nd Shift) Near Houston, TX

Job Summary:

The Team Leader is responsible for general direction, leadership, and team performance of a specific work cell. The Team Leader is responsible for all employees, materials, and equipment within the cell and ensures that all standards, procedures, and policies are adhered to. This position places a high emphasis on effective teamwork, clear communication, initiative, intelligent judgment, achieving and maintaining production efficiency and a dedication to continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead, train and support CNC Operators on operations, set-ups, maintenance, and machine safety.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality control of all parts produced on CNC machines.
  • Responsible for all the processes of the CNC Machines (Setups, loading parts, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, milling, turning, drilling, taping, all bench operations, and inspect).
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines per established maintenance schedule and as required.
  • Inspect and measure all in-process and finished work pieces to determine conformance to specifications.
  • Capable of running multiple machines concurrently, when tasked.
  • Report and document any equipment malfunctions to direct supervisor.
  • Work within the standard operation procedures and job safety parameters.
  • Communicate with all co-workers and shifts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized safe work area.
  • Complete all tasks assigned by direct supervisor.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions immediately to their direct supervisor.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum ten (10) years CNC operator experience, or have demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform above responsibilities.
  • Minimum of [5] years of experience as a machinist, with [3] years in HMLV (high-mix low-volume) production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Mastercam a plus.
  • Familiarity with G and M Code required.
  • Experience with 5 axis, Mill-turn, or multi-tasking machines a plus.
  • Proficiency in operating CNC machines, lathes, mills, and other machining equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and tooling.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and technical specifications (GD&T).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Special Skills: Use of hoists, hand trucks, conveyors, and lifts. Manual inspection tools, CNC tool holders, cutting tools, fixtures and other accessories used. Calipers. Mathematical skills including geometry and algebra. High attention to detail. ERP system, Syspro. Read travelers and work orders. Excellent problem solving, multi-tasking, and English communication skills, Spanish a plus.
