This position is located in our brand-new Oakland City Center location, or remotely (within the state of California). We are flexible provided you are open to traveling to the Oakland office locations as needed. 

About Your Work

At Altais we are building a multispecialty group across the state of California and nationally in the future. To help grow our multi-region group into a next generation population health enabled medical group, we are looking for a seasoned medical group executive to take on a role as the President of the Altais Medical Group. The Altais Medical Group President reports to the Altais Chief Executive Officer. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, and a proven track record of driving growth and excellence within and across medical groups. The AMG President will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care. Our Altais mission is to ignite an exceptional healthcare system that cultivates the health and well-being of physicians, patients, and the clinical community. We work closely with our providers and communities to co-create our way to optimal outcomes. This role requires a leader who is highly capable and can achieve results through healthy and productive partnerships. 

You will focus on

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the medical group in alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Drive growth, expansion, and diversification strategies, both geographically and in terms of services offered.
  • Monitor and assess industry trends and competition to identify new opportunities and threats.
  • Develop a culture that emphasizes thought leadership, results leadership, accountability, and performance with a shared vision for the future.

2. Operational Excellence

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the medical group to ensure efficiency, quality, and patient satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with department heads to optimize clinical and administrative processes, workflows, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and best practices.

3. Financial Management

  • Manage the financial health of the medical group, including budget development, cost control, and revenue enhancement.
  • Work closely with the Chief Finance Officer and finance team to analyze financial data and make informed decisions regarding resource allocation.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to maximize revenue and minimize expenses.

4. Team Leadership

  • Promote an environment consistent with our Mission, Vision and Values that strives to attract and retain the best and brightest team members and clinicians.
  • Partner with Chief People & Engagement Officer to recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing leadership team to drive the organization's mission.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement among staff at all levels.
  • Ensure that the medical group maintains high standards of patient care and service quality.

5. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, partners, and key stakeholders in the medical community.
  • Represent the organization in negotiations, collaborations, and partnerships to expand its influence and reach.
  • Advocate for the medical group in local, state, and national healthcare policy matters.

6. Quality and Patient-Centered Care

  • Promote a culture of patient-centered care and clinical excellence within the organization.
  • Monitor and improve clinical quality and patient satisfaction metrics.
  • Ensure the medical group complies with all relevant regulatory and accreditation standards.

7. Perform other duties as assigned

The Skills, Experience & Education You Bring 

  • 15 years’ experience leading multi-site, primary care and/or multi-specialty medical group practices
  • 10 years leadership experience
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree is preferred.
  • Master's in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience in executive leadership within a healthcare organization, ideally as a Chief Medical Officer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, reimbursement models, and emerging trends in the healthcare industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • A commitment to the highest standards of patient care and safety.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams, driving growth, and achieving financial objectives.

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements. We provide a competitive compensation package that recognizes your experience, credentials, and education alongside a robust benefits program to meet your needs.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed in our salary posting for transparency but may vary based on factors including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and geographic location. This base pay range is specific to California and can vary based on Bay Area, Metro LA, and Greater California regions which may not be applicable to other locations.

Physical Requirements: Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork – Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of workday.
