Altadena Town & Country Club is Hiring an Assistant General Manager (AGM) Near Altadena, CA

Founded in 1910, Altadena Town and Country Club is a full-service, family centric, swim and racquet club in the foothills of Altadena, CA, just north of Pasadena. ATCC is a member owned club, with 490 equity members and a total membership of 640 members and their families.

The Club features a 25-yard swimming pool, wading pool, and spa, along with 6 tennis and 4 pickleball courts. The Club also has a fitness center with both cardio and strength training equipment. The clubhouse is nearly 30,000 square feet, with multiple indoor and outdoor dining areas. The Club is also known for its robust banquet business, with two large ballrooms that have spectacular views of the San Gabriel Mountains.

A new member ala carte kitchen is scheduled to be built in early 2024, followed by the renovation of its existing prep/banquet kitchen later in the year.

The Assistant General Manager will be part of a 9-person Executive Team responsible for creating an unforgettable experience for its members and guests. The Club is open seven days a week with dinner service seven nights and lunch/brunch Wednesday through Sunday.

Position Summary:

The Altadena Town and Country Club is seeking an up-and-coming leader to be their Assistant General Manager (AGM). The AGM will be responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day back-of-house culinary operations of the Club, the Catering Sales Department, Maintenance/Engineering, Security, Fitness/yoga staff including employee training and safety. The AGM will work closely with the General Manager (GM) and in the absence of the GM, will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Club.

Reports to: General Manager. Exempt Position.

Job Requirements:

Operations

· Manage member and banquet back of house food operations and catering sales.

· Supports Executive Chef in the execution and delivery of quality food offerings for banquets and member dining including creation of innovative menus with pricing structures that meet Club financial goals.

· Work closely with the Director of Hospitality to ensure the front-of-house operations are seamlessly aligned with the back-of-house to deliver a cohesive and high level of service, consistency, quality, and value.

· Coordinates with all departments to manage operations efficiently and effectively to meet member and guest expectations.

· Ensures the calendar of events for members and banquets is expertly coordinated and supported by staffing to facilitate successful events.

· Manage maintenance team to ensure the club’s physical plant and infrastructure is maintained at a high level and is responsive to issues as they arise.

· Manage security department to ensure proper coverage for all club and banquet events.

· Manage and coordinate fitness programs to ensure they are on the calendar and have appropriate facilities support.

· Manage and coordinate safety program and training to meet all required best practice standards and OSHA compliance.

· Manage workers compensation program with oversight on compliance and open cases.

· Work with the General Manager in oversight of filming opportunities at the club.

· Attend all staff /management and applicable committee meetings.

Operational Practices

· Function as an administrative link between departments.

· Coordinate and execute training programs.

· Monitor safety conditions and employees’ conformance with safety procedures; updates emergency plans and procedures and ensure that effective training for these programs is conducted in all departments.

· Participate in on-going facility inspections throughout the club to assure that cleanliness, safety, and other standards are consistently attained.

· Staff liaison to House and Grounds and Food and Beverage Committees.

· Maintains knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to trends, periodicals, and participation in relevant trade association organizations.

· Strictly adheres to all Altadena Town and Country Club Policies as set forth in the employee manual and as established from time to time by management and/or the Board of Governors.

Financial

· Develop and actively manage budgets for the food, catering, maintenance, fitness, and security departments.

· Monitors food costs, labor costs and inventory monthly for all responsible departments.

· Monitors financial results and takes corrective action where necessary to ensure that financial goals are met.

Personnel Management

· Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of all food, catering, maintenance, fitness, and security employees in accordance with Club policies and applicable laws.

· Responsible for the growth and development of staff.

· Provides leadership and vision and maintains a high level of employee morale.

Supervises:

· Executive Chef, Director of Catering and Special Events, Maintenance Manager, Security personnel and fitness/yoga instructors and contractors.

Experience and Education:

A degree in Business, Restaurant or Hospitality Management is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the hospitality field that includes food and beverage is required. Involvement with the Club Managers Association of America is also preferred. The Club will provide resources necessary for continuing education, toward the completion of a Certified Club Manager (CCM) or similar certification.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
