Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant (ECMHC)

Due to a major expansion and new partnership with the Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) Networks in Regions 4 & 5, Alta is seeking to add Consultants who will serve the following counties: Columbiana, Mahoning, Trumbull, Ashtabula, Jefferson, Carrol, Harrison, Tuscarawas, and Coshocton.

The ECMHC provides consultative services to CCR&R staff, early care staff, children, and families.

Qualified candidates should love to play and be familiar with the social and emotional developmental milestones of children birth through kindergarten, relationship-based prevention and intervention strategies, and early care settings.

Duties will include:

· professional development and early childhood mental health consultation,

· classroom observations,

· development and implementation of classroom management and child-specific action plans,

· documentation of data pieces needed for program reports/evaluation

The minimum qualification for this position is a Bachelor degree in a major field of study related to early childhood (e.g.; Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies, Child Development, Elementary Education, Social Work, etc.).

The preferred candidate finds joy in working with young children, families, and early care providers! Ideal qualifications include:

· background in child development/early childhood,

· experience in assessment/interventions with young (under age six) children,

· experience in consultation and/or working with social service or mental health providers to youth

· Candidates must have a mental health license or be willing to obtain one.

Preferred candidates will have a focus on building relationships through play with children, early care providers, and parents/caregivers, be strengths-based, have excellent communication skills and collaborative.
