Alpine Food Distributing Inc. is Hiring a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor Near Milwaukie, OR

Position Information: The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor role has the responsibility to supervise all daily fleet maintenance activities. Under direction from the Transportation Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing the daily activity of repairs and preventive maintenance service on fleet equipment, maintain the maintenance schedule, conduct safety checks in accordance with DOT standards, work with external vendors when needed, monitor Purchase Order Approvals, manage costs, and keep appropriate logs and paperwork up to date for asset management control.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Perform moderate repairs and preventive maintenance services on tractors, trailers, trailer reefer units, and liftgates.
  • Maintain and update company transportation asset list.
  • Maintain PM maintenance schedule of fleet equipment: set PM inspection criteria, schedule equipment PMs, ensure documentation is completed and all required documents are scanned/retained, schedule maintenance based on findings and ensure all necessary repairs are completed and documented.
  • Track and document supply and parts usage, and account for repair times.
  • Assist Transportation Manager in assigning work to and managing third party service vendors.
  • Purchase Orders: receive quotes for service, obtain approval, and issue Purchase Orders to vendors per the Maintenance SOPs.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles in accordance with DOT standards.
  • At times, perform after hours service calls in company vehicle.
  • Communicate with drivers regarding "Vehicle Inspection Reports" and make appropriate repairs.
  • Coordinate and communicate maintenance activities with the Transportation Department, priorities for repair, estimated completion times, and completed tasks/repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Tools Provided.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to safely lift and maneuver heavy vehicle components.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen, physical agility test, and background check.
  • Ability to communicate with company drivers in a manner that emphasizes teamwork.
  • Where capable:
    • Perform inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on tractor and trailer equipment.
    • Repair and rebuild hydraulic, electric, and pneumatic pumps.
    • Undercarriage repair
    • Welding
    • Welding experience preferred.
    • PM or repair reefer units
    • PM or repair lift gates
    • Assist in occasional warehouse repairs (welding)

Education & Experience:

  • 5 Years verifiable experience performing Tractor/Trailer (including engine) repairs and maintenance in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Certifications in brake systems and annual inspections preferred.
  • Refrigeration certifications with experience a plus.
  • Commercial Driver’s License preferred, or willing and qualified to obtain your CDL (company assistance provided).

Physical Demands:

  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at times may be necessary.
  • Requires standing, bending, sitting, repetitive use hands/fingers.

Work Environment:

  • Able to be outdoors for extended periods in diverse weather conditions.

Supervision:

  • This position has Supervisory responsibility for processes and third-party contracts.
  • Must be able to work independently. Manager keeps advised of work progress. Completed tasks are subject to subsequent review. Accomplishments are subject to general review.
