Aquatics Director Position at Alper JCC Miami - Join our Team! 
Are you passionate about creating a safe, fun, and enjoyable aquatic experience for members and program participants? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to lead as our Aquatics Director at Alper JCC Miami!
The Aquatics Director is responsible for the development, operations, and supervision of all aspects of the aquatics program at the Alper JCC Miami, including developing, organizing, and operating high-quality aquatic experiences that are safe, fun, and enjoyable for members and program participants. Responsibilities also include building a collaborative team to create a highly functional, productive, and positive team of aquatics professionals. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 
Essential Job Duties (included but not limited to):
Aquatics Program Development:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive year-round aquatics program including group lessons, swim teams, private lessons, summer camp, and special events in coordination with agency priorities and needs
  • Develop and manage the aquatics program annual budget for the Alper JCC Miami within approved budget guidelines, in consultation with COO and CFO meeting annual revenue goals
  • Work with marketing department to create flyers, boards, banners, eblasts and any other material to promote swim lessons and swim team programs
Aquatics Staff Management:
  • Hire, train, supervise, and manage all staff members working for the aquatics department and supporting programs, ensuring the highest level of safety, professionalism, and aquatics member/participant satisfaction
  • Develop and manage a staff schedule (instructors and lifeguards) to run membership swim, lessons, and other aquatics programs; including collaboration with other departments to support all the agency's programming
  • Train staff on emergency prevention, response, and reporting
  • Prepare and oversee timely and accurate submission of payroll
  • Supervise and maintain credentials for staff as needed
Program Operations:
  • Teach group and private lessons, where appropriate
  • Conduct trainings in lifeguarding, WSI, CPR/AED, and first aid to agency staff as well as community participants 
  • Manage the maintenance operations and quality standard aquatics facilities to comply with agency regulations and state and local health department regulations, including permits, certifications, and emergency equipment
  • Maintain operations of pump rooms and pool chemicals by working closely with the maintenance staff to keep pump rooms functional and efficient. Manage appropriate inventory of chemicals, supplies, and safety equipment.
  • Ensure that all pools and related facilities are kept clean and tidy
  • Communicate with external partners regarding rental contracts and usage
  • Maintain and replenish aquatics equipment and needs
  • Participate in agency-wide meetings and programs, including staff meetings, and events
  • Ensure Aquatic program materials and supplies are well-maintained, stored, cleaned, organized, and replenished

Qualifications:
  • Minimum five years in the aquatics industry, aquatics leadership experience preferred
  • LGI, WSI, CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications
  • Certified Pool Operator or able to obtain within six months of employment 
  • Experience working or volunteering in the nonprofit sector preferred
  • Knowledge of Jewish holidays, traditions, and culture is a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree in sports, fitness, or related field preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Flexibility to bend, sit, and/or squat
  • The ability to spend time outside in the elements including heat and rain
  • Being able to sit and stand for long periods 
  • Good dexterity and vision for computer usage
  • The ability to lift 20 lbs. regularly
  • The ability to lift, set up, takedown, stack, and move carts of tables and chairs
  • Work in bent, twisted, or awkward work posture and stand for more than two hours in a row
  • The ability to reach both outward and overhead
  • Ability to work outdoor events
