Director of Engineering, Mobile
What You'll Be Doing:

• Managing, growing, and mentoring a team of experienced and passionate mobile engineers and engineering managers
• Serving as an engineering leader and technical expert within engineering and to cross-functional partners
• Leading and participating in technical, design, and product discussions with teams across the organization and company
• Continuing to build a world-class team by hiring exceptional talent, coaching and developing engineers, and leveraging your technical expertise to raise the bar and building the right amount of process
• Advocating for code quality, new technologies, and architectural design within the company
• Supporting initiatives to improve engineering efficiency, quality, and happiness
• Working in a highly collaborative environment as a distributed team across engineering, security, data science, product management, and marketing

Requirements:

• 10 years of building high-performing, healthy mobile teams that addressed increasingly complex technical and organizational challenges
• Deep experience in the iOS or Android native SDK. We prefer iOS candidates to balance our internal team experience
• Actively coached and mentored team members in their careers
• Shipped many large scale projects with multiple dependencies across teams
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Experience with CI/CD workflows and tools
• Experience with Monitoring, Logging, Reporting, and Alerting frameworks like Crashlytics, Embrace, New Relic, and Datadog
• Proficient with Jira, Confluence, Github, and AI Autocomplete
• Scrappy, creative problem solver who is willing to dive in wherever is needed
• Consistently made culture choices that positively impact all of engineering
• Humility, empathy and open-mindedness - no egos
• Believe that strong teams are built on trust and autonomy
• Passion for the outdoors

Bonus Points:

• Experience leading mobile applications where the offline-experience is a core product feature
• Experience working at a mobile-first B2C company
• Experience with open-source mapping frameworks
• Experience with Github Copilot or other AI assistive technologies

$230,000 - $260,000 a year
A successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on various factors such as skills, experience, training, and credentials, as well as other business purposes or needs. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range of their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the factors and circumstances of each case.
