Description
The Purchasing Specialist will be a critical member of the Purchasing Team and will support the General Manager and Plant Buyer. The Purchasing Specialist will work in a high volume, collaborative team environment, interfacing with multiple departments across the organization primarily focused on purchasing for awarded sales orders and expediting supplier delivery.
Reports to: General Manager or Purchasing Manager
Essential Functions:
· ERP Administration – Enter Supplier Solicitations, Purchase Orders, and provide timely maintenance and updates.
· Manage and develop MRP process in conjunction with production department.
· Follow up on released purchase orders in an established expedite process.
· Help develop and maintain existing sourcing database.
· Find and develop new suppliers for materials and services.
· Negotiating price, quantity, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
· Generating quote comparisons and contributing to internal supplier selection based on quotes.
· Providing solutions to improve company spending and outsourcing.
· Participates in all assigned projects and cost reduction / process improvement events.
· Interacts effectively with manufacturing, engineering, finance, and other business teams.
· Request quotes from suppliers when needed and as overflow capacity.
