About the role:

Allogene is seeking a Manager, R&D and Clinical Trial Accounting who will primarily be responsible for research and development activity accounting, including clinical trials, investigator grants, clinical manufacturing, routine R&D expense as well as helping the company with SEC reporting. This role is essential to ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of reporting related to the key business areas for the company. This individual will interact with various levels of management and third parties across financial and operational projects and initiatives, including regular communications with clinical operations team, clinical research organizations, supply chain team and clinical manufacturing organizations. The ideal candidate is a licensed CPA with biotechnology or pharmaceutical experience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Execution of critical accounting processes related to clinical trial accounting, investigator grants accounting, clinical manufacturing accounting, collaboration accrual accounting and other areas of accounting related to the clinical trial processes.
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders within the finance and clinical operations organization to manage the clinical trial progress against budget and ensure the recording of clinical accruals on a timely and accurate basis.
• Participate in the development and execution of deliverables for internal as well as external audit, legal and other parties to ensure timely completion of the company’s quarterly review and annual audit.
• Assist with the financial statement close process, executing period end procedures over clinical trial accounting, collaboration agreement accounting and other research and development accruals.
• Assist the technical accounting team in preparation of disclosures for quarterly and annual reporting with the SEC.
• Participate in the company’s development and roll out of accounting policies and procedures that meet SOX requirements.
• Other ad hoc projects and roles as appropriate.

Position Requirements & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting or Finance with at least 6-7 years of relevant accounting experience (experience with biotech industry is preferred).
• CPA and Big Four experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with SAP and Workiva systems is favored.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word and ability to learn new systems quickly are required.
• An independent problem-solver with strong work ethics and intellectual curiosity will thrive.
• Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment.
• Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
