Our Ideal Candidate

Our Allnorth IS team is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Helpdesk Technician to join our team in Prince George, BC. The ideal candidate for this Junior Helpdesk Technician role would possess a combination of technical skills, interpersonal abilities, and a passion for learning. This role would (potentially) end in September 2024. 

A Day in the Life

The Junior Helpdesk Technician will be responsible for providing technical support to our internal users and assisting in the maintenance of our IT systems. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development in the IT field. You will be assisting not only our internal team but our field staff on common Helpdesk issues, upgrading of software and management of internal hardware. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in-person
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
  • Assist in the setup and configuration of desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain software applications and operating systems
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical problems and escalate issues to senior technicians or IT management when necessary
  • Document and maintain accurate records of support requests, resolutions, and system configurations
  • Assist in the implementation of IT projects and initiatives
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of IT policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Provide basic training and guidance to end-users on IT systems and applications.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

The right candidate for this role would possess the following:

  • A solid understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts
  • You should be familiar with operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and common productivity applications like the Microsoft Office suite
  • The ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues efficiently is crucial 
  • Adept at analyzing problems, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions
  • Be comfortable collaborating with colleagues and seeking assistance when needed
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team is important for resolving complex technical issues and contributing to IT projects
  • Eager to learn new technologies, tools, and procedures
  • A proactive attitude toward self-improvement and be open to acquiring new skills through training and hands-on experience.
