Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing assists in organizing and administrating the Department of Nursing. Assumes responsibilities delegated by the Director of Nursing and assumes duties of Director of Nursing in his/her absence.

The Assistant Director of Nursing must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the residents served – adolescent through geriatric. The Assistant Director of Nursing must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the resident's status from admission to discharge; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each resident's requirements relative to their age-specific needs; and to provide the care needed as described in the Nursing Department's policies and procedures.

Type of supervision exercised: full, in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Jobs reporting to this position: Nursing Department staff.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Registered Nurse in a geriatric or healthcare setting required with two (2) of those years in a supervisory capacity.

SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners.

Knowledgeable in Department of Health regulations

Excellent organizational, administrative, and analytical skills required.

Ability to interact and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of corporate personnel and the public required.

CPR certification must be obtained and maintained.

Good customer service skills

Would certification preferred
