Job Summary

Bank Tellers serve as the bank’s primary front-line customer service representatives and are responsible for creating a welcoming environment and impression for our customers. Tellers must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment, performing a variety of transactions and customer services in a comprehensive, prompt, and efficient manner. Other responsibilities include compliance with all banking regulations and the policies and procedures established by management, building customer relationships, accurately recording daily transactions, and identifying products and services that will benefit customers.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (associate or bachelor’s degree in finance or related field preferred);
  • Relevant experience performing clerical activities (banking experience strongly preferred);
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and banking processes;
  • Ability to use mathematics to accurately compute routine transactions;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including professional etiquette, verbal communication, and listening skills;
  • Computer and technological proficiency;
  • Ability to learn and use banking software; and
  • Critical thinking abilities.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor with consumers.
  • Providing customer support in-person and over the phone; including answering inquiries, assisting with online banking access/user functions, and adjusting debit/ATM limits.
  • Receiving checks and cash for deposit and payment; including verification of amounts, proper endorsement, and ownership.
  • Processing account transactions such as withdrawals, loan payments, wire transfers, stop payments, order checks, and account transfers.
  • Keeping accurate records and carefully evaluating fraud risks during all transactions.
  • Performing various operational duties such as mail retrieval and sorting, and assisting other departments when appropriate.
  • Operating in accordance with bank policies and procedures; including daily opening and closing procedures, if applicable to the designated shift.
  • Familiarizing oneself with banking regulations, products, and services.

Employees may be required to perform other duties to assist with executing the bank's business model, and promoting the bank's culture, mission, and values.
