Alliance Spine and Pain Centers is looking for a CMA to act as the Clinic Lead for our Cartersville location. This is a Monday through Friday position that comes with a full benefits package.
Job Summary
A provider extender who is also responsible for the performance of all provider extenders on the clinic side of the Center. Insures that patients receive high-quality care in accordance with provider’s orders. Runs an efficient, smoothly functioning clinic that produces high-quality documentation as required to meet medical necessity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform the role of player/coach as the leader of a provider extender team that may consist of RNs, LPNs, and CMAs.
  • Plan and direct day-to-day clinic operations to support both physicians and midlevel providers. Manage patient triage workflow.
  • Develop and reinforce local workflow processes to maximize quality and productivity that are in alignment with Alliance policies and procedures.
  • Take direction from and collaborate with Regional Administrator, providers and/or Charge Nurse to select, train, and develop a strong staff.
  • Monitor patient and provider experience throughout the day and make adjustments as needed to insure the best possible patient outcomes.
  • Insure that the provider extender team respects the privacy of patients and is in compliance with Alliance policies in this regard.
  • Review documentation produced by team members. Coach them to produce high-quality documentation that reflects medical necessity.
  • Insure that every provider extender is competent and efficient with clinical chart prep, including use of eCW templates, entering HPI, interval history, exam, order entry, referrals and quality measures. Their skillset must also include processing lab orders, prior authorizations, pre/post procedure calls, telephone encounters, document boxes, lab results, and preparation of office procedures.
  • Establish time and quality standards (for telephone encounters, urine samples, rooming patients, etc.) and use these standards to constructively challenge team members to perform at the highest level.
  • Establish and reinforce a culture of teamwork within the provider extender team, as well as with providers, front desk, and the ASC.
  • Set an example for the provider extender team by demonstrating concern for patient welfare to patients and their families.
  • Although the Clinic Lead does not have disciplinary authority over the provider extender team, she/he is expected to effectively resolve staff conflicts without taking sides, and to identify the need for progressive discipline where necessary. In such cases, the Clinic Lead should engage the Regional Administrator.
  • Resolve patient complaints. Seek assistance on the more difficult ones from appropriate authority (provider, Regional Administrator, Charge Nurse, Front Office Manager).
  • Collaborate with Charge Nurse to cross-train provider extenders to perform roles in the ASC, and vice versa. Coordinate schedules with Charge Nurse to staff the ASC with provider extenders if/when the need arises.
  • Insure that the clinic area of the Center is properly maintained. Identify the need to replace existing or purchase additional equipment.
  • Assist Regional Administrator and/or Charge Nurse with CMAs’ annual evaluations.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • Current Georgia state license to practice as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Knowledge of equipment, instrumentation and supplies required to perform specific responsibilities.
Communication Skills
Strong customer service skills. Good command of the English language, both verbal and written. Ability to work well with providers, fellow employees, and patients.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to work independently with detail and accuracy. Ability to apply common sense, understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • The employee must regularly lift 100 pounds with assistance and 50 pounds without assistance. Must assist patients of all sizes and weights on and off the exam table or surgical table. Visual acuity for chart review and equipment operation. Considerable stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Employee is exposed to radiation when in the ASC OR due to the use of fluoroscopy and is required to wear (approximately 5lb) lead apron during procedures.
  • Employee may be required to travel between multiple locations, as needed.
