Alliance for Safety and Justice is Hiring a Remote Individual Giving Associate

Description

Location: Remote telecommute; Flexible location within the United States; preferably located within an ASJ priority state or Washington, DC.

Reports to: Individual Giving Manager

Position type: Full-time, exempt

Alliance for Safety and Justice (ASJ) is a national advocacy organization that aims to replace ineffective criminal justice system policies with what works to keep people safe. We represent diverse crime survivors as well as people living with old records as key public safety stakeholders. ASJ brings our members together with state leaders and coalition partners to win reforms that stop cycles of crime, reduce costly incarceration, and make communities safer. Who You Are

ASJ is in a growth phase, working to quickly diversify revenue streams and strengthen relationships with new and existing donors. The Individual Giving Associate is a key member of ASJ’s development team who will provide broad support to our individual giving program with a focus on grassroots fundraising, prospect research, database management, and development operations. A successful Associate will bring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a can-do attitude to our growing team. This Development professional will have the unique opportunity to strengthen ASJ’s community of supporters and contribute to the growth and sustainability of our organization.

What You’ll Do

Individual Giving Program Support (70%)

  • Support digital fundraising program by collaborating on content calendar, editing email and text content, maintaining online giving pages, and monitoring email and text replies (unsubscribe requests, changes in sustainer giving, etc.)
  • New donor prospecting and research, including preparing donor briefs
  • Support donor outreach, cultivation and stewardship, including drafting and editing direct mail pieces, call time, text and email communication
  • Coordinate donor and prospect meetings, including scheduling, donor briefs, prepping materials and follow-up support
  • Prepare and proof written communications; assist with the preparation of donor impact and stewardship reports and major gift proposals
  • Maintain donor mailing lists and ensure proper segmentation
  • Monitor and manage development team inbox and respond to requests within 24 hours 

Department Support & Administration (30%)

  • Process incoming grants and donations, including updating donor records in CRM and preparing acknowledgment letters and other correspondence
  • Lead effort to ensure key contacts, correspondence, and cultivation strategies are effectively tracked in CRM for leadership, Individual Giving Manager, and Senior Development Director; design and pull reports to oversee and monitor prospect and donor activities and implement systems to ensure strategic follow-up by key staff
  • Create monthly fundraising reports and dashboards as needed and support regular reconciliation with finance and reporting to leadership
  • Support the planning of special events
  • Seek in-kind event donations and sponsorships
  • Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of the organization, its mission, values, strategic goals, and programs to develop persuasive donor materials and proposals

Requirements

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years' experience in fundraising/development for non-profit charitable organizations or executive support/administration, with a track record of success
  • Knowledge and experience working with donor database management systems or CRMs is required; preference for previous experience with Salesforce, EveryAction and Classy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Have knowledge and experience in core fundraising strategies and tactics
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with the ability to drive effective processes and provide information and feedback to a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Must be a self-starter and goal-driven individual capable of initiating and executing an array of fundraising and administrative efforts
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Display a positive and empathetic attitude
  • Demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and listening skills

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Some travel may be required
  • Requires use of a desktop, laptop, or video display terminal
  • Requires routine physical movements with limited physical exertion
  • Ability to communicate, receive and understand information through oral and written communication and proofread and check documents for accuracy
  • Requires communicating information with co-workers, stakeholders and/or the public; reading correspondence, instructions and/or technical documents; writing correspondence and/or reports and filling in forms

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000, and will be offered commensurate with experience.
