Job Title: WOMEN'S HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER (WHNP)

Purpose: Provides health care to woman throughout her reproductive lifecycle as defined by the Collaborative Practice Agreement. The APN practices within the scope of practice as established by the APN., The NJ Board of Medical Examiners, and Alliance guidelines.

Reports To: Medical Director

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Provides culturally sensitive OB/GYN care predicated on evidence-based guidelines
• Participates in a team approach to Women?s Health Care, being cognizant of and responsive to the expertise and contributions of all staff.
• Makes appropriate referrals.
• Reviews all laboratory results as they are received from laboratory in a timely fashion as outlined in the lab follow-up policy
• With appropriate medical consultation and medically approved standing orders, provides comprehensive care to uncomplicated clients throughout the maternity cycle, including, but not limited to, the following:
  • antepartum ambulatory management
  • proper medical record documentation
  • ordering medical, therapeutic and diagnostic measures consistent with Alliance?s Women?s Health Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Postpartum ambulatory management
  • proper medical record documentation
  • ordering medical, therapeutic and diagnostic measures consistent with Alliance?s Women?s Health Policies and Procedures Manual
  • If needed, performs emergent/precipitous deliveries
• With appropriate medical consultation and medically approved standing orders, provides comprehensive care to uncomplicated gynecological clients, including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Well woman gynecological care to women throughout their reproductive life cycle including but not limited to: contraception, STD evaluation and treatment, basic infertility evaluation and routine health screening.
  • Problem visits which may include: abnormal uterine bleeding, gynecological infections, and menopause.
• Makes the appropriate referrals for expert follow-up
• Is compliant with the agency?s policies regarding timeliness of closing the visit encounter.
• Is complaint with the agency?s policies regarding Infection Control.
• Maintains continuing education as outlined by APN and/or the NJ Board of Medical Examiners
• Participates in the departments on call rotation schedule.
• Maintains membership and participation in professional organizations.
• All other duties as assigned
