- A high-quality curriculum is selected by its alignment with the expectations and rigor of the Common Core standards and the usability for teachers.
- All curricula are intended for students to learn the concepts behind math to then apply and practice the concepts in different scenarios.
- Students unpack the conceptual understanding to implement into fluency practice.
- Support at Alliance includes regularly receiving feedback and coaching on intellectual preparation, classroom practices, and scholarly work analysis.
- Teachers will also have school-based professional development as well as math meetings that further clarify expectations and serve to improve teaching practices.

POSITION OVERVIEW The Robotics and Coding Teacher is a full-time teacher and faculty member, working in our Alliance MIT Valera Middle Academy school in Sun Valley. Primary responsibilities include leading our Middle robotics program, teaching multiple sections of coding and robotics, and serving in an advisory role for the robotics competition team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES The responsibilities for this role fit into three categories: Robotics Coach, Fabrication Specialist & Faculty member.
Robotics Teacher - Apply knowledge of skills and techniques to assist students in reaching their fullest potential.
- Provide leadership, demonstrate sportsmanship, and be a positive role model for student robotic members to be enthusiastic and demonstrate self-confidence.
- Establish the safety and welfare of the robotic students as the highest priority while using tools.
- Properly instruct robotics students in the safe use and maintenance of equipment, tools, and the lab.
- Build a positive team rapport that will ensure every member of the team has a role and is valued.
- Develop and maintain a positive relationship with students, parents, colleagues, and other community members.
- Instruct students on Engineering Design and how to apply this concept to designing, building, programming, and testing a robot for a robotics competition.
- Teach the basics of coding and block coding and how that can be applied to robotics.
- Coordinate instruction with the HS robotics teacher to have vertical articulation of content/concepts.
Faculty Member - Teach 6 sections of Robotics/Coding to grades 6 through 8.
- Serve as a positive role model on campus for all 6th through 12th grade students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required - Applicants who will hold any of the following credentials by August 1, 2023, are welcome to apply:
- California Single or Multiple Subject Credential (Clear or Preliminary)
- If you hold a Multiple Subject Credential, you must have a Science Authorization
- California University Internship Credential Eligible (Intern eligibility letter required)
- Proof of California Credential in Progress (University email can satisfy this requirement)
- Non-California Credential Transferring to California; please provide proof of transferring credential in progress (i.e. from other U.S. states)

- Active California teacher certification in the assigned subject area(s) and a valid English Learner Authorization (e.g. CLAD) by August 1, 2023.
- Candidates who don't hold a valid teaching credential or have a pathway to obtaining a California teaching credential will not be eligible for a teaching position.

- Curriculum Development
Preferred - Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering and/or Education.
- Experience in Coding
- Experience working with VEX robotics
- Experience with CAD, CAM, 3D printing, and machining with routers, mills, lathes, laser cutters, and other machinery.
- Professional and/or College level robotics experience, training, and/or previous high school robotics experience
STANDARD ON-CAMPUS HOURS- Start: Monday through Friday by 7:45 AM
- End: Monday through Friday by 3:20 PM; Wednesday by 4:30 PM

**Effective July 1, 2024, the salary range for this position will be $70,000 - $130,000. The effective salary range for Burton Tech and Gertz-Merkin campuses is listed above. COMPENSATION
