Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant assists care teams in obtaining a comprehensive medical history of patients, reconciles medications, and appropriately documents the electronic medical record. This position assists with allergy testing, diagnosis, treatment, and immunotherapy. The Certified Medical Assistant works in a team-based environment that requires strong communication skills.
The Certified Medical Assistant assists care teams in obtaining a comprehensive medical history of patients, reconciles medications, and appropriately documents the electronic medical record. This position assists with allergy testing, diagnosis, treatment, and immunotherapy. The Certified Medical Assistant works in a team-based environment that requires strong communication skills.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Triage patients to obtain pulse, Oxygen levels, blood pressure, and vitals
- Obtain patient history and medications and chart it in patient file
- Administer allergy injections and educate patients on the results
- Perform skin testing, pulmonary testing, PFT’s, and prepare syringes and trays with extracts
- Obtain medication authorization
- Keep exam rooms stocked and clean
- Communicate with the Department Lead and/or appropriate members of the management team as needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Manage patient inquiries and process paperwork
- Coordinate with other healthcare providers for referrals or consultations
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Customer-oriented communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Adhere to HIPPA Guidelines
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Education and Experience:
- Certified Medical Assistant
- At least 1 year of experience in a medical clinic
- Experience in administering injections and taking vitals
- Knowledge of patient safety and OSHA Understanding
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
- Constant standing and walking around the clinic
- The employee must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds
