About Allens Lane Art Center
In 1953, Allens Lane Art Center (ALAC) was founded to bring together a diverse community of Mount Airy residents through engagement in the arts. The center has been a cornerstone of the neighborhood for nearly 70 years and continues to thrive today with a rich variety of programs. The four core programs at ALAC are Theater, Art Education, Summer Art Camp, and Exhibitions. The Art Education program serves both young and adult artists and includes visual arts, ceramics, and theater classes.

About the Position:
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized individual to join our team as a Studio Manager. The Studio Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operations of our art studios, including ceramics, ensuring a welcoming and productive environment for all artists and students alike.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventory of the center’s art supplies and equipment.
- Manage studio operations, maintenance, and cleanliness, ensuring a safe and inspiring environment for creativity!
- Provide excellent people-first services, responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and fostering positive relationships with staff, teaching artists, students, and visitors.
- Train and supervise ceramic studio techs, volunteers, and assistants.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with kilns and manage kiln repair.
- Keep a kiln firing schedule and manage the firings with the help of studio techs.
- Manage clay ordering and inventory, keeping detailed track of clay purchases.
- Provide support for Mt. Airy Arts Festival supply and set up needs.
- Provide support with Holiday and Spring Art Markets.
- Work as a team and in collaboration with the Director of Programs, Operations Manager, and Facilities Manager.
Requirements:
Hours: Flexible, some weekend and evening hours.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15,000.00 per year
