Allen County Government is Hiring a Circuit Court - Male Drug Screen Technician Near Fort Wayne, IN

This position is part-time, scheduled for three days (25 hours) per week and is not eligible for benefits. Under the direction of the Chief Probation Officer, the Male Drug Screen Technician is responsible for conducting supervised and observed urine drug screens on male offenders, under Allen County Adult Probation supervision and maintaining detailed and accurate records. This position is covered as defined by The Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Conducts regular supervised urine drug screens on male offenders under the supervision of Allen County Adult Probation.Maintains detailed and accurate drug testing records, including chain of custody.Prepares and maintains the drug screen lab on a daily basis; maintains and inventories the drug testing, shipping and labeling supplies, and orders more as needed.Sort, verifies, prepares, and packages the specimen collections for daily pick-up.Verifies, sorts, and distributes daily drug screen results and reports that are received from the toxicology lab to the appropriate staff members.Enters urine drug screen results and charges/fees into the case management system.Closely monitors and detects any potential device or substance used to interfere with the drug test during the collection of the sample; completes the necessary documents and Court affidavits, notifies the Field Division of Adult Probation, and follows internal policy/procedure.Testifies in Court regarding offender violations and/or observes drug screens as required.Attends trainings, conferences, and seminars as required.Performs filing and shredding as required.Assists with special projects / assignments.Performs all other duties as assigned, including overtime as required.REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma or GEDPrior experience in human services, preferredMust be male in gender in order to perform observed urine drug screens on male offendersMust have knowledge of and ability to apply evidence collection and preservation techniquesStrong computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office and other job related softwareThe agency subscribes to the National Institute of Corrections’ Eight Principles of Effective Intervention (EBP), must be able to complete required Corrections EBP training programs and demonstrate competencies that focus on empirical recidivism risk reduction strategiesStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong report writing abilitiesMust be detailed oriented and have the ability to maintain accurate recordsAbility to maintain strict confidentiality of all department records and information. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as telephone, fax, copier, and computerAbility to work with high risk offenders
