Allegro Power is seeking to hire a solar installer to join our solar installation team. The person fulfilling this position will construct photovoltaic (PV) solar electric systems. The ideal candidate is someone who has construction and/or electrical skills and has been looking for a way to get into the solar industry.

Position Summary:

The Solar Installer is responsible for the installation and maintenance of PV systems on residential and commercial properties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

o Install photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with codes and standards using drawings, schematics and instruction.

o Activate photovoltaic (PV) systems to verify systems functionality and conformity to performance expectations

o Apply weather sealing to array, building or support mechanisms

o Examine designs to determine current requirements for all parts of the PV systems

o Identify and resolve any deficiencies in PV system installation or materials

o Identify environmental and safety hazards associated with PV installations

o Identify installation locations with proper orientation, area, solar, access, or structural integrity for PV arrays

o Identify methods for laying out, orienting and mounting modules or arrays to ensure efficient installation and system maintenance

o Install required labels on solar system components and hardware

o Visually inspect and test PV modules or systems

o Compile or maintain records of system operation, performance and maintenance

o Determine materials, equipment and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation efficiency

o Maintain inventory organization and control

o Regular travel requirement

o Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Qualifications:

o Previous experience in PV installations, roof work, general construction, or carpentry strongly preferred

o Experience with the safe use of hand held and power tools

o Experience working with all types of building materials and various roof types strongly preferred

o Strong interest in renewable energy

o Interest in safety is a must; OSHA 10 preferred

o Highly motivated, self starter who is meticulous and takes pride in your work

o Good at problem solving and working with tools

o Excellent teamwork skills- able to foster a positive team environment

o Highly organized & able to multi-task and set priorities

o Able to succeed in fast paced environment

o Must possess a current NYS Driver’s License with clean driving record

Physical Requirements:

o Comfortably able to lift 75lbs., climb ladders, work with tools, work in crawl spaces, and work on roof tops in varying temperatures

o Occasional long hours in order to complete the project.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $58.00 per hour
