ROLE TITLE: Campus Store Merchandiser

REPORTS TO: Director of Retail Operations

Summary of Position

The Campus Store Merchandiser is responsible for daily management of in-store and mobile campus store operations for Allegheny College. This position is an integral part of the cross-functional Retail Operations team which includes the campus store, printing services and college post office. It will be necessary to work in all areas of the team at times; cross-training will be provided. This position oversees the daily operation of the college campus store and represents the college as primary initial contact for many internal and external customers.

What you will do in this role:

  • Deliver excellent customer service in coordinating the day to day store operations by initiating, implementing, training, and enforcing retail standards and procedures through all retail environments. Ensure the retail space is fully stocked in a visually appealing manner at all times. Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers to understand service requirements. Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment. Ensure store compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing Specialist to create and plan promotions and displays as part of the comprehensive marketing plan. Ensure compliance and coordination with the Marketing and Communication Department strategy and college licensing requirements. Seek ways to better promote the store, product line, and service within all sales channels. Design and implement retail windows and in-store displays to increase revenue and drive foot traffic. Organize and coordinate special store marketing events such as Commencement, Reunion, Blue/Gold Weekend and other special-interest activities
  • Partner with the Director of Retail Operations to manage and monitor merchandise sales to determine trends. Analyze and prepare detailed reports on buying trends, customer requests, along with any other noteworthy metrics. Review merchandising activities, seek and suggest additional needed sales promotion, and advise the Director of Retail Operations of trends. Recommend and assist with identifying, buying, and curating merchandise to be sold across all sales channels
  • Manage inventory levels and oversee receiving, stocking, storage and display of new merchandise and monitor inventory quantities. Execute returns for defective merchandise. Prepare purchase requisitions and related paperwork. Approve and submit invoices for goods and services utilized in the campus store and mobile campus store.
  • Complete retail transactions and perform customer service duties. Fulfill all e-commerce orders and monitor/maintain e-commerce product mix. Respond to customer queries, complaints, and concerns in a professional manner. Implement cross-training of employees to maintain productivity at all times. Manage and coordinate student employee staffing to meet operational needs and ensure compliance with student financial aid requirements. Verify and approve all student timesheets.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • High school graduate or GED is required, bachelors degree preferred
  • Track record of achieving exceptional results
  • Detail oriented with ability to multi-task
  • Must have exceptional communication and relationship building abilities
  • Required knowledge: Google Suite, MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, desktop

YOUR COMPENSATION

New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. Compensation is dependent upon qualifications and experience. This is a non-exempt position. The expected hourly range starting point for this position is $17.00.
