TITLE: OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT - 10 Month, 200 Day Contract

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Assist Occupational Therapist in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care programs designed to assist disabled patients regain function, increase motion and coordination and develop staff-sufficiency in overcoming physical disabilities.

This job focuses training and practice in occupational therapy and all related pursuits such as coordinated physical therapy. All matters pertaining to training or enhancement of occupational therapy skills must be prioritized and are not to be circumvented.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified Occupation Therapy Assistant (COTA) with successful completion of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal and/or Director of Special Education

PERFORMANCE REPONSIBILITIES:

Attend all classes and fulfill course requirements to maintain certification and registry in Occupational Therapy Assistantship.

Arrange and attend required academic courses or seminars.

Work under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

As advisors and mentors recommend, work with physical therapy staff for team coordination and best practice. Spend ample time in this pursuit. Work cooperatively with all school staff.

Report to the Registered Occupational Therapist and Special Education Administration for any therapy concerns.

Report to Principal or Assistant Superintendent for other issues.

Report to classroom teacher of assignment and to the School Principal when in school setting. This should be done each entry and departure.

Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Ten month contract, exempted FLSA status. Salary to be established annually by the School Board.

EVALUATION:

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of licensed personnel.
