JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: CTE TEACHER for ELECTRICITY PROGRAM
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under direction of the school principal, plan and provide instruction and skills training for students that focus on installation, operation, maintenance and/or repair of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes that include skills competencies prescribed by the Virginia Department of Education. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community. Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS and WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must possess required certification or license and skill in Electrical systems (Journeyman or Masters). Five years of experience in the field is preferred.
Holds or is eligible for a VDOE license with a teaching endorsement at the appropriate level;
Demonstrates professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and members of the community;
Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day if assigned to an itinerant position;
Ability to monitor and ensure appropriate student behavior, including outdoor activity areas, gymnasiums, etc;
Possesses high moral standards and integrity;
Competent in the use of instructional technology hardware and software;
Frequent walking, standing, stopping, lifting up to 60 pounds may be required; and
It is anticipated that some stress will be associated with this position. It is necessary that the individual have the capacity to remain calm, considerate, and tactful.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten month contract, exempted FLSA status. Salary will be established annually by the School Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board Policy and administrative regulations and evaluation of personnel.
