Position: High School Social Studies Teacher

1.Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university required
2. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
3. Must be highly qualified as defined by the Michigan State Dept. of Education
4. Experience working with at-risk youth
5. High degree of technology skills (Google Suite)
6. Willingness to learn the tenants of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS/RTI) and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS)
7. Desire to collaborate with peers and work as a team

Essential Job Duties:
1. Teaches district approved curriculum (Mi-STAR)
2. Creates a safe and respectful classroom environment for all learners
3. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology to engage all learners
4. Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons and units
5. Uses a variety of formative and summative assessments
6. Takes a trauma-sensitive approach when working with students
7. Communicates professionally to students, parents/guardians, and colleagues
8. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
9. Other duties as assigned by building administrator
