Description

Overview: AllCare Primary and Immediate Care is seeking a dynamic and experienced Medical Director to join our leadership team. As a physician-led organization, AllCare is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare and making a positive impact throughout our patients’ healthcare journey.

The Medical Director will be responsible for driving the engagement, recruitment, professional development, and overall performance for the physicians and advanced practitioners (APPs) in our growing Washington DC market, which currently has 10 locations. The Medical Director will report to AllCare’s Chief Medical Officer. The position will start as approximately 35% administrative and 65% clinical, with the administrative portion of the role increasing as AllCare adds new locations in the region.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Leading and managing all aspects of physician and APP performance. Leading engagement of physicians and APPs, on-site and virtually, to help them meet performance targets (i.e. productivity, clinical quality, patient experience) and facilitate resolving issues that are impacting their experience or efficiency.
  2. Overseeing onboarding and conducting training for new physicians and APPs.
  3. Leading market efforts to drive clinical documentation quality improvement. Working with AllCare leaders who have established a process for chart reviews to ensure physicians and APPs are compliant with clinical documentation standards.
  4. Serving as the collaborating physician for a limited number of nurse practitioners and the supervising physician for a limited number of physician assistants, ensuring appropriate oversight and support for clinical practice.
  5. Supporting discussions around physician and APP employment agreements and compensation.
  6. Recruiting physicians and APPs, which includes interviewing candidates and advising on offer details.
  7. Crafting and implementing clinical/quality initiatives and new clinical service lines within the market.
  8. Advising on risk management action plans.
  9. Fulfilling the role of CLIA Medical Director to maintain compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of clinical experience in primary care.
  • Minimum of 3 years of healthcare leadership experience.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated success leading physicians and APPs within a large or high-growth medical group.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and continuous improvement.
  • Hold a full, active, unrestricted, DC medical license.
  • Reside in the District of Columbia, preferably in range of our offices.
  • Travel is required within the region with the possibility of occasional travel outside for leadership meetings.

Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries.. Travel will be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
