All Star Physical Therapy is Hiring an Occupational Therapist Near Apple Valley, CA

Summary of Job: Evaluates occupational therapy needs, develops and implements therapy programs for assigned patients. Participates in related clinical activities. Occupational therapy is skilled treatment that helps individuals achieve independence in all facets of their lives. It gives people the “skills for the job of living” necessary for independent and satisfying lives. 

Education and Experience:  

  • Graduate of a school of occupational therapy accredited by the (National Board of Occupational Therapists NBOCT) 
  • Licensed by the NBCOT or accepted for licensure within six months from date of employment. 
  • One year Hand Experience preferred
  • HTC or CHT preferred 

Qualifications:  

• Ability to use sound judgement in applying academic knowledge and clinical experience in providing direct and indirect patient care. 

• Capable of communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 

• Ability to organize time and set priorities appropriately, demonstrating flexibility. 

• Ability to establish rapport with M.D.’s, adjustors, case managers, patients, families, professionals, co-workers, and the public. 

• Ability to assume responsibility and uphold decisions of supervising therapists. 

• Ability to lift and move patients and equipment using sound judgement. 

• Demonstrate integrity and discretion in all job-related matters. 

• An attitude of excellence in providing quality patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Provide occupational therapy programs to the following groups; family members/caregivers; programs may include; comprehensive home and job site evaluations with adaptation recommendations, instruction on treatment plans, gait training, modalities, motor development activities, manual therapy, etc. 

• Provide input to physicians in assessing a need for type of patient equipment and orthoses; participate in ordering 

• Responsible for timely documentation; i.e. evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, communications with physicians, and third party payer requirements 

• Delegate occupational therapy treatments as appropriate by instructing Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapy Aides while providing adequate supervision. 

• Assume responsibility for all direct and indirect occupational therapy service provided to his/her patients. 

• Participate in maintenance of physical facilities and equipment by reporting any equipment malfunction or unsafe conditions, competing maintenance request and by keeping department neat and orderly

• Participate in related clinical activities which may include, but are not limited to; educational in-services, OT consultation services; etc.

• Perform other related tasks as assigned. 

• Participate or assume responsibility for development of new programs and upgrading existing programs. 

Physical Requirements: The Physical Therapist should be in good physical condition. He/she should have a wide range of physical abilities including, but not limited to, the ability to push, pull, lift, carry, stoop, squat, walk, ascend / descend stairs, transfer patients, guard patients, and move gym equipment.

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions, with or without reason accommodations, including meeting qualitative and / or quantitative productivity standards

• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance, consistent with federal, state, and local standards 

• Must be able to spend 80% of the work day standing and working with patients, 10% of the day sitting at a desk while working on the computer

• Bending/Reaching 10% 

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

• Must be able to listen and speak clearly
