JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Physical Education
Reports To: Principal of School & Pastor of All Souls Parish
Office/ Dept: Department of Catholic Schools
FLSA Status: Part time, Non Exempt (12 hours / week)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Teaching physical education and sports to students in PreSchool - Grade 8
• Create a curriculum following the school and state standards
• Plan and run PE classes through the school year.
• Work with individual students as needed to teach motor skills
• Maintain the school’s PE equipment
• Use curriculum resources effectively and evaluate curriculum when needed
• Know the Vision and Mission of our school
• Work with staff, students, and parents as needed or as deemed necessary
• Maintain a neat, attractive, workable space conducive to learning.
• Participate and run California State Physical Fitness Test each year for specific grade levels.
• Form positive relationships with students, parents, and co-workers.
• Be enthusiastic about teaching and learning
• Participate in WASC self-study for accreditation as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• First aid and CPR training / certificate
• California Teaching Credential in Physical Education (Preferred)
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Be a team player

EXPERIENCE:

• 1 - 3 years experience as a PE teacher or similar role. Preferably in a Catholic School.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

• A baccalaureate degree or higher from a regionally-accredited college or university
• Complete teacher preparation program
• Posses a clear credential in physical education (preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit, walk, stand and climb stairs, alternating as needed and sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to bend, pull and also reach above shoulder level.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

RATE:

• $80 / hour
