Job Title: Middle School Dean of Students

Job Description

As the Middle School Dean of Students at All Saints’ Episcopal School you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive school environment. Your primary responsibility is to support students' overall well-being, behavior, and academic success. You will work closely with students, parents, and faculty to ensure a safe and productive educational experience. The Dean of Students reports directly to the Head of Middle School and is responsible for fostering an atmosphere conducive to learning. You will oversee all issues pertaining to the well-being of students during their attendance at the school.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the Head of Middle School to develop and manage academic and social policies, protocols, and practices that serve to support student development, learning, health, and safety.
  • Address students’ academic, social, and emotional needs, and promote their personal development.
  • Develop and enforce school behavior and discipline policies in collaboration with school administration.
  • Address and resolve behavioral issues and conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Monitor students’ academic progress and provide suggested academic support or arranged interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Handle and respond to crisis situations, including emergencies, conflicts, and student-related issues.
  • Work with the school's crisis response team as necessary.
  • Oversee and support student clubs, organizations, and extracurricular activities.
  • Encourage student involvement in school events and activities.
  • Collaborate with parents to address their concerns and keep them informed about their child’s well-being and progress.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and records regarding academic performance.
  • Work closely with faculty to promote a positive school environment.
  • Plan and organize events and activities that foster a sense of community and school spirit.
  • Promote inclusivity and diversity within the student body.
  • Maintain accurate records of student conduct, incidents, and interventions.
  • Oversee implementation of the Student Handbook for Middle School
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Education, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in education and proven success as part of an administrative team
  • School counseling or student affairs experience in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to student issues.
  • Empathy and the ability to connect with students and build trust.
