OVERVIEW:
AIA AXE THROWING ROOM is looking to hire highly extroverted personalities in the local area to become Axe Throwing Hosts at our Axe Throwing Room in the Palisades Mall! With our main focus targeted squarely on guest service, AIA Axe Throwing Room was designed to (1) be clean and well-maintained, (2) offer a communal, outside-the-box game environment and (3) be the place that has a reputation of ensuring each and all have a fun, gratifying experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
This position is responsible for executing a unique, fun-filled, live entertainment experience for guests of all different ages, backgrounds and group sizes. The Axe Throwing Host’s primary job objectives are to (1) deliver venue/ safety rules in a fun, easy-to-understand manner, (2) explain and demonstrate the techniques of safe axe throwing to visiting players as they try to precisely hit wall targets, and (3) hang relatively close-by as a guide (of sorts) to ensure guests enjoy their overall axe throwing experience.

We’re looking for people in your area who like having good, clean fun and aren’t shy about serving as a social game guide with a diverse group of people ranging from first-time throwers to die-hard enthusiasts. Ideal candidates will be highly responsible, reliable, personable, energetic, adaptable, and most importantly – passionate about engaging with guests - to ensure they have a happy, memorable time!

Our hosts work with little supervision, handle dynamic, fast-moving situations, and remain calm even when met with various types of personalities and/or work demands. Simply put, our hosts make safety a priority, set the overall game tone, and keep their focus aimed at guests having a blast!

You don’t actually need experience in lumberjacking to become one of our hosts. If you’re in the search for a fun, safe, live-entertainment work environment, and you have a genuine desire to do something cool, amusing and unique for work . . . we’re looking for you!

GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous axe or dart throwing work experience preferred, but not necessary - we’ll show you the proper way to handle/throw different types of axes. (Candidates who simply enjoy active, socially based work environments are encouraged to apply)
• Be professional, friendly, self-confident, comfortable and well-spoken in front of large or small groups with an emphasis on positive reinforcement
• Welcome guests with an enthusiastic, authentic greeting, including check-in, waiver sign-in, etc.
• Be proficient with computers; operate POS system during opening/reservation/check-in/closing
• Explain game/venue rules in a concise, easy-to-understand manner
• Educate all guests on safety rules/procedures; demonstrate proper axe throwing techniques to show how it’s done
• Encourage axe throwers; build their confidence while they are playing
• Politely and professionally defuse and resolve any issues related to guest rowdiness or excessive noise levels
• Keep an attentive eye out for any unsafe game play/axe handling at all times to help prevent accidents
• Attract guests to your axe throwing room throughout your work shift as they pass by the facility
• Maintain a clean, orderly axe throwing room/restroom area
• Ensure all axes are well-maintained, in good working condition prior to play
• Reset axe throwing props/equipment after each game, ready for new players
• Change out axe boards when they show of excessive axe dents or wear-n-tear
• Oversee inventory of all props and report replacement/needed repairs to appropriate people
• Ensure all AIA marketing promotions are executed properly

SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Be Seller-Server Certified/or willing to be certified; as alcohol beverages may be served at some Axe Throwing Room locations
• CPR and First Aid certification training preferred, however AIA will provide all newly hired Axe Throwing Associates with CPR, First Aid and Seller-Server certification training
• TIPS certification is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Work well under pressure
• Work days, nights, weekends and holidays as required
• Able to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment with distracting conditions
• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, lift 100% throughout your shift
• Operate and carry 50lbs or more
• Able to manage basic game/computer functions
