ALIGN PRECISION is Hiring a CMM Inspector Near Tuscaloosa, AL

Summary

Performs onsite dimensional and visual inspection activities, in a metrology laboratory environment, utilizing a wide ranges of inspection devices and automated machinery. Supports manufacturing goals of on time delivery of quality products to our diverse customer base. Maintains strict standards via adherence to specifications, tolerances, and processes using inspection and auditing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Use the CMM to measure part dimensions

· Perform inspection(s) of products to determine conformance to all specifications.

· Utilize various measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, gages and other handheld measuring devices for open set ups

· Use an Optical Comparator for measurement of parts and characteristics

· Use video measurement equipment to measure part dimensions

· Understand and perform to all current quality standards

· Communicate inspection results effectively with co-workers and supervisors

· Keep machines and work area clean and organized at all times

· General maintenance of CMM machines as needed

· Perform safe operation of CMM machines

· Complete all required paperwork

· Abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements

· Provide good feedback and promote good communication

· Note: Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Competencies

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

· Blue print reading, GD&T (ASME Y 14.5 any year published) knowledge is much preferred

· Previous role in quality department for machining facility is preferred

· The ability to work in a team environment

· Strong attention to detail

· Able to communicate verbally and in writing

Qualifications

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. · Able to measure parts using a variety of inspection equipment (e.g. micrometers, calipers, gage pins, thread gages, etc.) to verify part features

· Understand and use GD&T concepts like position, profile, and flatness

· Have a basic understanding of machining processes to support communications of findings to the production floor

· Accurately completes all required paperwork

· Able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, vendors and customers

· Able to read and understand drawings, specifications, and documentation

Education and/or Experience

· High School diploma or equivalent

· Experience with engineering drawings utilizing GD&T, ASME Y 14.5 (any year published)

· Needs to be comfortable working in AS9100 manufacturing environment.

· Previous experience in dimensional inspection of machined parts is preferred

· Previous experience operating or programming CMM machines a plus

Language Skills

· Able to read and comprehend customer and regulatory specifications/instructions

· Able to read company correspondences and memos

· Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization as needed

Reasoning Ability

· Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written instructions and common oral instructions

· Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in common, and some special, situations
