Position Overview: ALG Senior is seeking an experienced and dedicated In-House General Counsel to join our team in Hickory, NC. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal support, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and proactively managing legal risks. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in corporate law, healthcare regulations, and employment law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to senior management and the board of directors on a wide range of issues, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, employment law, contracts, and risk management.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company’s interests.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance for all aspects of senior living operations, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws.
  • Manage and resolve legal disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and ensure legal compliance across all departments.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed on complex legal matters.
  • Stay current with changes in relevant laws and regulations, and proactively communicate these changes to the organization.
  • Provide training and support to staff on legal issues, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate law, preferably with experience in the healthcare or senior living industry.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to senior living and healthcare.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
