Description

Dawson, a K-12 independent school of 535 students located east of Boulder on a beautiful 112-acre campus, seeks a Marketing Content Specialist position. This position is a key member of the school’s Marketing and Communications team and is responsible for collecting, producing, and managing high-quality multimedia content for a variety of platforms and purposes. Graphics, photography, and videos will play a key role in enhancing our brand's visibility, storytelling, and engagement with our target audiences, which includes families, students, alumni, and donors. Dawson is a growing and passionate educational community dedicated to the healthy development and education of all of its students.

Professional and Personal Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree (marketing, communications, journalism, business, or English preferred).

  • At least two years of marketing-related experience.

  • Experience in marketing, advertising, or PR/publications.

  • Proven experience working with and managing social media.

  • Demonstrated excellent writing and editing skills with a focus on correct grammar and syntax.

  • Excellent research, interviewing, and communication skills.

  • High level of creativity, attention to detail, and project management skills.

  • Photography and videography (for social media) skills.

  • Familiarity with Blackbaud (or other Content Management System [CMS]) is preferred.

  • Intermediate-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Canva, and video editing software.

  • Proficiency with Mac computers and Google Suite. 

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Attitude that exemplifies teamwork and personal responsibility.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all matters.

  • Model school virtues of respect, compassion, courage, and integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce and/or edit print and digital content for diverse mediums, including blogs, emails, publications, digital newsletters, and social media.

  • Develop engaging, accurate, and persuasive copy tailored to key constituencies, incorporating creative narratives that effectively communicate Dawson School’s unique story.

  • Write and/or edit content pieces, strategically promoting school initiatives (special projects support) customized to individual constituents.

  • Capture photos and videos of faculty/staff, classroom activities, student events, and campus life for use in various marketing materials.

  • Manage the school’s social media presence, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Collect, curate, and produce all content, ensuring it is engaging, dynamic, current, and aligned with Dawson’s mission and vision.

  • Stay up-to-date on social media and digital content trends and leverage those insights to inform our creative strategy. Reviews and uses social media analytics to measure success and develop new ideas.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to maintain a communications calendar, disseminating regular news updates via a weekly community digital newsletter, campus signage, and other formats as needed.. Also, manage the development of our annual Dawson Magazine.

  • Interview and tell the stories of the school community, including alumni, faculty/staff, and students.

  • Copyedit, fact-check, and proofread materials to ensure consistency and accuracy.

  • Capture and edit short-form video for social media and the web and basic layout work within preferred design/video software.

  • Use Canva and/or other design software to create branded graphic pieces for social media, marketing, promotional materials, and communications.

  • Manage the organization and maintenance of content assets, such as images, videos, and content files.

  • Work on campus, and have the flexibility to cover/attend some evening events and 1-2 weekend days, as needed.

Supervisor Responsibilities

  • This position may occasionally supervise students or student groups, for collaborative projects and events.

The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000, and commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical, dental, 401(k), and generous time off.
