DIRECTOR OF REGIONAL AFFAIRS

Reports to: Vice President of Regional Affairs
Status: Regular, Full – time, Exempt
Location: Anchorage, AK

JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Regional Affairs will partner closely with the VP of Regional Affairs (VPRA) to manage the internal operations of the grants, lands, and shareholders departments. This position will also support the VPRA in governmental affairs activities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Embrace the mission and vision of Aleut.

• Direct, develop and implement KPI’s and strategic goals for areas of responsibility to include grants, lands, and shareholder departments.

• Direct the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for grants, lands, and shareholders department.

• Ensure continued growth and maturity of Aleut’s lands department to include a land permitting program.

• Partner with VPRA, VP of Communications, and GC related to government affairs related activities and topics.

• Assist VPRA in supporting and growing regional development.

• Partner with legal to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to individual department initiatives, projects, and daily operations.

• Enhance the internal department(s) processes and infrastructure to allow for organizational growth.

• Evaluate the results of department(s) outcomes and provide ongoing support and direction to first level managers to ensure successful day to day operations in each functional area.

• Assist direct reports with development of department policies, practices, and goals.

• Mentor employees, provide constant feedback, and conduct annual performance reviews.

• Participate in the annual budgeting process by providing the VPRA operational budgets for grants, lands, and shareholders departments.

• Assist with resolving shareholder concerns and questions that are escalated above the Shareholder Relations Department.

• Coordinate and lead efforts in partnership with VPRA and other executive team members regarding government affairs as it relates to the corporation.

• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, transparency, and rigor.

• Approximately 20-30% travel time required.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Exhibit well-developed leadership skills to solve problems by working with a broad range of team members.

• Functions calmly, respectively, and effectively in stressful and sometimes complex, ambiguous situations.

• Proven commitment to act ethically and with integrity.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or other related degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

2. Five (5) years work experience in a related position.

3. Three (3) years managing a large team in a similar environment.

1. Working in Alaska Native Corporations
