A part-time floater / teacher assistant / substitute of Aleph Bet Children’s Center is responsible for assisting staff in classrooms in support of or in place of regularly scheduled employees.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

· prepare classroom for class activities

· prepare and serve snacks/meals

· promote respect for cultural diversity, with a focus on Jewish culture and identity

· foster the child’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development by organizing the child’s learning experiences

· nurture the child as an active learner

· provide opportunities for language and literacy in both English and Hebrew

· encourage creative expression and appreciation for the arts

· create an environment where the child feels safe and valued and where his/her physical needs are met.

· instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment

· encourage and monitor the progress of individual students

· manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the school

· be knowledgeable or willing to learn about Jewish traditions, dietary laws, blessings and celebrations

· participate in department and school meetings

· open or close facility as scheduled

· clean classrooms

· ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times

· be familiar with emergency procedure

· participate in State of Tennessee assessment as needed.

· assisting Aleph Bet Children’s Center Director as needed

Education and Experience Preferred

• minimum of two years’ experience with young children

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
