Albright College, a liberal arts college in Reading, PA, is seeking Pre-College and Summer Program Interns. The Pre-College and Summer Program (PCSP) division provides learners with focused educational experiences in a cutting-edge academic environment. Learners will be exposed to a wide variety of disciplines through research curricula, career/research presentations by experts, and mentored independent research experiences. PCSP Interns provide students of all ages with the opportunity to expand their academic skills base and develop research projects or ideas. PCSP Interns will serve as tutors, mentors, and facilitators of Pre-College and Summer programs to include students of all ages from PreK to adult in Total Experience Learning® environments. Mission: The mission of Pre-College and Summer Programs is to motivate, support and empower students in their learning to achieve success. We strive to cultivate student engagement and effectiveness in an increasingly diverse and demanding academic climate. Goals: Student-centered: To personalize educational supports enhancing cognitive, social, emotional and content driven skill sets. Service to Community: To reduce educational barriers while developing research-driven supports for student success. Empower Students: To establish and maintain positive peer and professional networks to increase a students’ self-efficacy. Community Engagement: Undergraduate students will serve as role models for youth in the community. Essential Job Functions:PCSP interns are critical members of the Pre-College and Summer Programs team and will be responsible for a variety of tasks and duties. Most importantly, interns will be asked to provide an exciting, challenging, and rewarding experience for all students. All PCSP interns will:Attend an introduction and training sessions as needed that will introduce Pre-College and Summer Programs and Total Experience Learning® methods, logistics, and scheduling.Attend a training session prior to any new program initiativeAct as teaching assistants as needed for Pre-College and Summer Program instructors during seminar sessions. Teaching assistant topics will be assigned to the intern based on their strengths, skills, and/or interests.Supervise and/or mentor students and assist with research projects during programming.Supervise and/or mentor students throughout all aspects of Pre-College and Summer Programs.Attend staff meetings as needed throughout the school year.Aid students of all ages in preparation for personalized applications of the Total Experience Learning® methodology and/or PCSP initiatives and/or professional development goals.Participate in PCSP meetings as needed to discuss implementation and/or feedback on various programming.Support programming in a variety of facets including, but not limited to, welcoming new participants, organizing program data, and supporting supply management.Be available to discuss student work with instructors. Be punctual for all scheduled sessions. Be transparent with your supervisor about dates and times you are available to be scheduled to work.It is your responsibility to notify your supervisor, and/or the Coordinator of Pre-College and Summer Programs as soon as possible if you cannot attend on your assigned date/time. Utilize effective techniques shared through training; promote utilization of resources and independent learning. Report any problems or concerns to the Director of Pre-College and Summer Programs. Serve as a role model for all students seeking academic assistance. Serve as additional support in all Pre-College and Summer Programs preparation and tear down of programs.Follow college policies; establish and maintain credibility within the community; and behave in accordance with the College’s values and expectations.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Prerequisites:SKILLSCOMMITMENT TO MISSIONA demonstrated commitment to excellence in education; ability to develop, articulate, and champion Albright College offerings to students.Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to enhancing equity and inclusion within the team and across a culturally diverse campus while celebrating people of all statuses and identities.
