HIGH SCHOOL MATH 9-12 TEACHER
FOR 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Appropriate New York State Certification - Math 7-12
  • Must pass drug, physical, and TB tests
  • NYSED Fingerprint Clearance
  • Such qualifications as established by the Superintendent of Schools unique to each position
ACCOUNTABILITY: Building Principal

NATURE OF POSITION:
The classroom teacher is expected to provide students with age-appropriate instruction designed to promote the full development of students, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. Major responsibilities include: classroom management, curriculum development based on specific objectives, long and short term lesson plan preparation, knowledge of subject material, student evaluation, development and maintenance of parent/teacher and student/teacher relationships, participation in professional development activities and contribution to building and district-wide educational programs and goals.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students in accordance with District and/or building goals and objectives.
  2. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  3. Develops a positive classroom learning environment that is student-centered, conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity, ability and interest of students.
  4. Manages student behavior through the use of educationally sound methods and management systems designed to develop behavior which demonstrates respect for self and others.
  5. Communicates the established objectives and expectations to students and maintains high expectations for student outcomes which are consistent with the District's goals of mastery.
  6. Assesses the individual accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as established by District policy, regulations and building procedures.
  7. Confers with colleagues, students and/or parents as appropriate.
  8. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning, instructional goals, objectives and approaches.
  9. Assists the administration in implementing all District policies and/or building regulations and procedures governing student life and conduct.
  10. Attends scheduled meetings; serves on District and building committees.
  11. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, by District policy, regulations and building procedures.
  12. Communicates with parents and appropriate building staff on pupil progress and maintains accurate and complete records.
  13. Assists in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials in cooperation with other staff and parents as outlined in established adoption procedures.
  14. Accepts responsibilities for educational activities assigned.
  15. Utilizes and cooperates with resource personnel as appropriate in meeting stated objectives.
  16. Attends departmental and staff meetings as requested.
  17. Meets and instructs assigned classes and extra classroom assignments and responsibilities as designated.
  18. Provides for own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars and conferences.
  19. Performs other duties as required by building principal and/or District Administration.

Requirements:
  • NYS Certification - Math 7-12
  • Fingerprint clearance through NYSED TEACH; Drug Testing; current TB test; current Physical (less than one year old) - all completed upon being hired for employment

Terms of Employment: Ten-month year; salary to be established by the Board of Education; follows the ATA contract (Step 1 - $49,037)
