Balducci's is looking for a Wine Department Manager in the Westport, CT location.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who will provide leadership in a signature department encompassing fine wines, craft beers, specialty cheeses, caviars and foie gras by ensuring excellent customer service, ordering inventory and supplies, and implementing merchandising initiatives to stimulate growth of the business while exceeding customer expectations and maximizing profits.

Specific duties include but are not limited to :

• Construct creative merchandising displays including sales cases and floor displays to sell and educate customers on latest trends and our special offerings.
• Achieving budgeted financial goals
• Purchasing, stocking and managing inventory
• Developing and maintaining good relations with vendors
• Compliance with all local, county, state and federal liquor laws
• Maintaining accurate department records to ensure documentation of activities is available
• Developing and maintaining good communication with other departments
• Controlling department costs by monitoring and improving operations to increase profitability
• Training, supervising and scheduling of associates. Assign and follow up on tasks and counsel associates on work related issues.

Develop associates through timely, constructive and effective feedback.

• Provide excellent customer service by assisting guests in selecting items, including cross-selling and up-selling.
• Cutting and wrapping all cheeses, including specialty offerings.
• Adhere to all safety and sanitation standards as required. ServeSafe training a plus.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

• At least 2-5 years of retail wine sales experience, preferably in an upscale environment

• Strong knowledge of wine and beer operations, along with a passion to sell
• Ability to read and analyze financial reports
• Excellent PC skills using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong knowledge of market trends
