Albert Einstein College of Medicine is Hiring a Research Technician B Near Bronx, NY

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

General lab organization including occassionally be responsible for ordering rooutine supplies under close supervision of PI and preparation of common lab solutions. The candidate will perform experiments using established techniques in the field of genetics, biochemistry/molecular biology. In addition, the technician will work with Drosophila (performing general fly husbandry duties as well as genetic experiments under e.g. the PI’s guidance).

Many tasks are simple such as initiating ordering of supplies, but require a high degree of reliability, precision and patience. Tasks also require the use of dissecting scopes and light/fluorescence microscopes (person will be trained).

Need to have a simple/limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals; will occassionally analyze data and interpret data;

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related science or equivalent skills and related experience and zero to two year of related experience.
  • General molecular, biochemical and genetic knowledge is essential
  • Good organizational and analytical skills and reliability essential.

Work with Drosophila melanogaster on aspects of autophagy and spermatogenesis. This will be complemented by tasks related to basic lab maintenance.

The technician will initially work under close supervision of PI and later might also work together with postdocs or students. After successful initial training, the candidate is expected to perform routine duties independently and reliably.
