MAINTENANCE MECHANICAL PLANNER I & SCHEDULER

Job Overview :

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Planner / Scheduler that will be based in Silver Peak, Nevada. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager in Silver Peak, Nevada.

The Maintenance Planner / Scheduler will work with the maintenance team to achieve the Facility’s goals, objectives, and safety targets in alignment with Albemarle Corporation’s processes.

The basic function of this role is to maximize the maintenance work force capabilities through prioritizing, planning, and scoping of maintenance work orders.

This position is expected to produce job plans that allow maintenance technicians / craftsperson to work safely and efficiently.

In addition, this role will perform the duties of the Maintenance Scheduler.

The Maintenance Scheduler role will be responsible for preparing accurate weekly schedules that optimize resources, materials, and equipment utilization to achieve the highest-level of maintenance efficiency, and equipment reliability of fixed plant assets and rotating equipment assets.

This position requires a combination of office and fieldwork. The employee will be required to work in different weather conditions and must be able to access elevated electrical and mechanical equipment via ladders, scaffolding, man-lifts, and crane baskets.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Provide detailed job plans that insure safe and efficient execution of all maintenance jobs.
  • Manage the unplanned work order backlog by :
  • Reviewing incoming work notifications for clarity and accurate definition,
  • Reviewing backlog and planning list,
  • Grouping notifications together that can be planned and worked as a single order, and
  • Coordination of job plans to meet the timing requirements of production.
  • Develop or copy the work order job plan and clearly document required skill crafts, duration, specialty tools and necessary equipment.
  • Build the job plan library, including ensuring accurate plans exist for high-frequency jobs.
  • Update job plans to ensure necessary changes, or improvements are incorporated, and efficiencies are captured.
  • Review backlog, and planning list for turn around related work orders.
  • Clarify incomplete, or poorly defined work notifications.
  • Convert notifications into work orders.
  • Group work orders and / or notifications together that can be planned and completed as a single order.
  • Continually update task lists to ensure : 1) necessary changes, or improvements are incorporated, and efficiencies are captured per job feedback forms.
  • Identifies jobs that require Management of Change (MoC).
  • Conduct bi-weekly meetings with Operations and Capital Projects to coordinate priorities, discuss the schedule and action items.
  • Review, create job packets, which includes job plans, technical documentation (e.g., photos, drawings, technical specification, procedures, check list, etc.

  • Coordinate outsourcing for specialty contractors, or skill SME (Subject Matter Expert).
  • Build and maintain bill of materials (BoMs).
  • Ensure Technicians / Craftpersons tool time is maximized from a planning / scheduling basis.
  • Identify materials needed and specifications for work packages.
  • Review work orders prior to scheduling to ensure that estimates for labor, skills, materials, equipment, and external services are included, and optimized.
  • Monitor work close outs.
  • Create a 3-to-6-week schedule.
  • Participate in key Maintenance and Operations meetings.
  • Plan jobs using SAP and Prometheus to include Labor, Tools, Equipment, Materials, Drawings, Procedures, Maintenance Resources, and Contract Services required to complete work orders.
  • Conduct field visits for accurate planning and completeness of job plans.
  • Identify activities to execute job plans safely and efficiently by coordinating with the Safety Department when required.
  • Work with Material Coordinator to assure all repair parts are ordered and received as needed.
  • Assist and participate in the development of annual maintenance budgets.

Accountabilities :

  • Number of Jobs in Job Plan library.
  • Planned versus Actual Hours.
  • Quality of Job Plans (per feedback).
  • Work Orders planned per week.
  • Backlog of unplanned work orders.

Requirements :

  • Good communications skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of Albemarle Corporation’s organization.
  • Experience with SAP PM and Prometheus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of E&I.
  • Understanding of Albemarle Corporation’s work Management Process.
  • Experience with both fixed equipment (vessels, piping, heat exchangers, etc.), and rotating equipment (pumps, gearboxes, compressors, centrifuges, couplings, seals. bearings, etc.).
  • 5 plus years of experience in the repairs of vessels, tanks, wells, and rotating equipment.
  • Turnaround / outage experience.
  • Self-motivated, and the ability to work in a strong team environment.
  • Demonstrates a high attention to detail.
  • Can demonstrate a commitment to Albemarle Corporation’s Core Values in achieving an incident and injury free environment.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses / goggles, ear plugs / muffs, masks / respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots.
  • 5 plus years of maintenance experience and / or planning experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with Albemarle safety procedures including lock out / tag out, working at heights, confined space entry, and hot work.
  • Understands materials specs for piping, bolting, gaskets, valves, conduit, wire, etc.
  • Knowledge of equipment manuals, and ability to read and understand P&IDs.

Preferred Requirements :

  • 3 plus years of experience as a Maintenance Planner.
  • 3 plus years of experience as a Scheduler.

Education :

A Technical degree and / or an Associate’s degree.
