The Albany Pet Hotel is looking to add to their overnight staff! This is the perfect opportunity to earn some extra money if you’re a college student, seeking additional employment, or simply enjoy working with animals and consider yourself a night person! The ideal candidate is someone who not only loves animals, but is detail oriented, a self-starter, punctual, and can calmly make smart decisions in emergency situations.

Job Tasks & Responsibilities

• Be able to handle a variety of dogs and cats ranging in age, size, and temperament
• Thoroughly clean and sanitize kennels, yards, and play areas to meet our high sanitation standards
• Laundry, dishes, mopping, and other janitorial tasks
• Safely relieve boarding dogs for potty breaks after hours in small groups and individually
• Provide extra services for boarding guests
• Be comfortable and reliable to administer time-sensitive medication including oral medication and insulin for both dogs and cats
• Proficiently handle emergency situations including major medical emergencies with boarding guests as well as facility emergencies in the event they should occur
• Provide 1:1 care for elderly, ill, or anxious boarding guests overnight in our office area
• Be able to watch our multi-camera monitor at all times and conduct walk throughs of the facility as needed
• Prepare breakfast meals for boarding guests
• Be able to utilize our computer software program to mark off services, and read and add notes to pet profiles as needed
• Be comfortable arming and disarming an alarm (this is a key holding position)
• Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, punctuality (this is extremely important for this position as we only schedule one person per night shift!), and a huge love for the wellbeing and safety of our boarding guests

Availability & Scheduling

Overnight shifts are split into two different shifts: 6pm-midnight and midnight-6:30am. We are primarily seeking someone who can work Sundays-Thursdays from 6pm-midnight, although availability to work the later shift starting at midnight as well as other days of the week as needed is a huge preference.

Job Requirements

• Must be available to work the shifts outlined above including holidays and weekends
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds independently, stand on your feet for long periods of time, walk up and down a flight of stairs, and be able to safely handle dogs 80 pounds
• Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, detail oriented, and punctual
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Background check and drug screening required
• Previous professional overnight work experience is highly preferred
