Albany Medical College is Hiring a Research Technician Near Albany, NY

The Lamar Lab at Albany Medical College is recruiting a full-time research technician to join our collaborative research team. The position is available immediately, but the start date is flexible. Our lab researches cancer with a primary focus on identifying genes that can be targeted to treat cancer. The position will primarily involve research on our Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma project, but also offer the opportunity to work on the other ongoing projects related to cancer metastasis and the Hippo-YAP/TAZ pathway. Research technicians in our lab often earn authorship on manuscripts while learning research techniques and gaining valuable research experience that can promote their career progression.

The ideal candidate will:

- Have a bachelor’s degree in biology or chemistry

- Be hardworking, responsible, and motivated

- Work well with others

- Be willing to work with laboratory mice

- Have previous research experience (preferred, but not required)

- Provide references

Responsibilities:

- Learn and become proficient in common assays such as western blots, qPCR, cell culture, transfection, molecular biology, immunofluorescence, transwell invasion assays

- Help maintain our mouse colon and learn in vivo tumor growth and metastasis assays

- Perform experiments using above assays

- Help others with their experiments

- Lab duties including maintaining lab stocks, making buffers and reagents, stocking common lab items

- Assist with compliance paperwork

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
