Position Title Playground Duty Aide- SERRC 21st CCLC Program
Position Characteristics The Playground Duty Aide provides assistance and supervision for K-2 children to ensure a safe and positive environment during the 15 minute outside recess prior to the start of the 21st Century Afterschool Program. Playground duty may on occasion be inside based on weather. This is a key position as we teach young children to play well together. This is a part-time position and reports to the on-site lead teacher.
Position Qualifications High school diploma or GED Works well with others from diverse backgrounds Able to focus on solving conflicts among children; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others; and keeping emotions under control Demonstrated ability to successfully work with young children. Flexible, team oriented, collaborative worker Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to effectively communicate with program staff and administrators
Position Duties/Responsibilities
Supervises students at recess playtime prior to afterschool programming and maintains a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts
Circulates throughout the playground
Ensures students are playing safely
Interacts with students to maintain order, provide assistance and support collaborative play
Directs movement of students on the playground and to line up at the end of playtime
Reports disciplinary concerns to the building administrator and/or classroom teacher
Responds to emergency situations immediately following school policy
Reports safety issues of playground equipment to the building administrator and/or classroom teacher
Attends work regularly and is punctual; notifies on-site lead teacher of any absence early enough to allow for substitute planning
Maintains confidentiality.
