Alaska Power and Telephone is Hiring a Plant Watchperson Near Tok, AK
Alaska Power & Telephone is hiring for a part time Plant Watchperson in Northway, Alaska. This position will be responsible for daily plant visits to monitor the facility and record information. This includes monthly meter reads and fuel dips, meter reading and possibly changing oil on the engines. Candidate will need to be available to advise Tok power crew of the outages and assist with power outages if requested to do so, day or night. Duties And Responsibilities
Meter reads
Fuel dips
Engine oil changes
Accurately record and report information
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Ability to self-motivate and communicate with other team members
Ability to safely identify hazards and work around electrical and mechanical equipment.
Mental flexibility, willingness to learn unfamiliar parts of the job and a positive attitude
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
Desired Qualifications
1 year mechanical or electrical experience preferred.
Physical Requirements Of The Job
At times work will be performed in loud environments requiring hearing protection
At times work will be performed in non-temperature-controlled environments
At times work will be performed around rotating equipment
At times work will be performed while sitting, standing, crouching, squatting and at heights
At times work will be performed in a standard office environment with regularly scheduled working hours
Must be capable of: Safely lifting of up to 30 pounds on occasion, main good balance
Safety and PPE must be worn at all times when performing work in the field
Occasional travel to Tok may be required
The pay for this position is $21.00 per hour. AP&T is a small non-union utility serving over 40 Alaskan communities and villages.
