Summary:

Under minimal supervision, provides administrative and strategic leadership for wound healing services, including design, implementation, and management of a comprehensive clinical, operational, and financial framework across the system of care. The Program Coordinator collaborates with administrative leadership across multiple services, including ambulatory, inpatient, post-acute, and home health services to execute a cohesive strategy that aligns with the mission, strategic plan, and operational priorities related to wound healing services.

Responsibilities:

Accountability for Wound Healing Services programming across inpatient departments and assisting the ambulatory sites of care as requested by the organization and the system of care.

Directly manage and supervise wound, ostomy, and continence RN team to provide expertise and guidance for inpatient and outpatient would services (as needed) and development, monitoring, and action upon clinical financial and operational metrics designed to continuously improve service delivery.

Regularly research and maintain expert knowledge of the latest evidence-based advances in wound healing services and novel approaches to wound care.

Disseminating information across the care team and collaborating cross-functionally with business and clinical leaders and staff to develop business plans, impact analyses, workforce plans, and other tools in support of the program growth and success to improve the clinical, operational and financial outcomes of the program.

Analyze current and future growth trends in clinical service and propose, and revise programming to optimally position the organization and the system of care to meet the needs of the patient population.

Collaborate cross-functionally with business leaders and staff to develop plans, impact analyses, workforce plans, continuous improvement of systems and processes and other tools in support of program growth and success.

Continually assess all services, identify problems and utilize data to analyze and propose innovative approaches for solutions.

Manages resources for staff participation in work activities.

Incorporate Wound Healing Services Programs.

Develop utilizing evidence-based and current standards to improve staff and patient quality and safety.

Develop and implement program and clinical outcome measures for quality improvement, cost and complication reduction using evidence-based medicine.

Oversee employee relations and engage, and participate in interdisciplinary relationships (e.g., with physicians, academic clinical department leaders, administrators, etc.) to ensure collaboration and effective/efficient operations within Wound Healing Services Program and coordination with other programs.)

Promote growth and development across the enterprise including partnership, future satellite and telemedicine and opportunities in the local, regional, and national markets in partnership with business planning processes.

Establish financial goals and activities using bench marketing with high-performance systems in similar areas of expertise to set annual targets.

Establish, and monitor an annual operating and capital budget and demonstrate fiscal responsibility through meeting budget targets and opportunities to improve financial outcomes.

Allocate resources based on patient volume, space availability, budget constraints, program priorities, and goals and objectives toward Would Healing Services.

Develop specialist referral contracts.

Facilitate and support involvement in research projects, analysis, and distribution of findings.

Facilitate protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback, and analysis.

Engage with innovative wound and skin markets to improve cost, quality and outcomes for patients while extending academic mission and innovative spirit.

Oversee development of patient brochures and educational materials related to Wound Healing Service.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to skin and wound.

Knowledge of culture and diversity of the Native population.

Knowledge of relevant educational content and appropriate methods of delivery and the ability to develop and facilitate relevant and effective education.

Knowledge and ability to collect pertinent, relevant and update information to support the development and implementation Wound Healing Services.

Ability to track and monitor trends, progress, and outcomes.

Knowledge and ability to develop and support a variety of treatment and management options as it relates to skin and wound care including but not limited to: pressure/support surfaces & tools for prevention, bed options, skin care products, wound management supplies & products. As it relates to specialty area.

Skill in assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care and plan of care is patient/family-centered, developmentally and age-appropriate, and culturally relevant.

Skill in initiating prevention strategies, interventions, and treatments of skin disorders and wound management.

Skills to develop activities that will improve cost, quality, and outcomes for patients.

Skills to ensure comprehensive evaluations of programs and initiatives.

Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of applications.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.

Ability to communicate both in writing and verbally effectively.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

Master's Degree in Nursing

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Non-supervisory – Three (3) years as a registered nurse in a wound care specialty.

Leadership – One (1) year involving program management, consulting, and/or equivalent demonstration of leadership experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Current registered nurse license in the State of Alaska and remain active with all annual licensing requirements.

A current Basic Life Support card is required.

Nationally Accredited Certified Wound Nurse Advancement (CWCN) and/or Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) within 12 months of the start of the position.
