About the Team

The adult outpatient clinics in Anchorage and Fairbanks are made of a multi-disciplinary team who work together to provide comprehensive behavioral healthcare services to adults who experience mental health challenges or life stressors. Our Clinicians treat a wide range of mental health needs, including grief and loss, addictions, relationships, trauma, serious mental illnesses (such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and depression) using evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.


What You’ll Do

  • Provide clinical evaluation and treatment services to assigned clients
  • Provide clinical oversight for non-master's staff and engage in supervision of graduate interns as required
  • Make referrals, treatment planning and clinical assessment and evaluation services, coordinate mental health services with other community and State Agencies, and engage in professional recordkeeping in accordance with organization standards
  • Participate in program evaluation and quality improvement activities to ensure that clinical services are viable and response to the mental health needs of the population served
  • Works as a member of a team consisting of various professional disciplines in providing services to clients in accordance with the prescribed form of treatment and maintains behavior and communications which are consistent with agency mission, goals, and chosen values
  • Work on a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, treatment planning, psychosocial skills training, individual and group therapy, case management, crisis intervention and other services driven by client need

  • Full-Time, Exempt
  • Pay Range is $60,000 to $77,649 (unlicensed); $72,310 to $93,579 (Licensed) depending on experience. Eligible for up to $22,000 in incentive with the average being $7,000

  • Clinicians participate in regular individual and group supervision and are provided with additional training opportunities as part of our professional development plan.
  • AKBH offers generous benefits including two healthcare options for employees and their dependent children; voluntary vision and dental insurance; employer-provided life insurance/AD&D and long-term disability; 401k with immediate vesting and up to 5% employer contribution; 3 weeks of PTO the first year increasing to 6 weeks the second year; and 10 paid holidays.
  • AKBH consistently provides both individual and group clinical licensure supervision for our behavioral health providers who are working towards their post-master's and post-doctoral clinical licenses. The most common licenses for therapists in Alaska are Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Both require 100 hours of clinical supervision. Market rates for licensure clinical supervision are $150-$200 and hour. At 100 hours, that is a $15,000 to $20,000 value – and our staff receive it as a free benefit.


What We Need from You

Clinician I

  • You have a Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or another relevant field
  • You have experience working with CMI clients, and a background with substance abuse treatment is preferred
  • You have personal transportation with a clean 5-year driving record and Alaska vehicle insurance

Clinician II

  • You have a Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
  • You are licensed in Alaska as a Social Worker, Psychologist, Psychological Associate, Marriage & Family Therapist, Nurse, etc.
  • You have Six months (full-time) or equivalent post-graduate, supervised experience with adults with severe, persistent mental disorders in a mental healthcare treatment or rehabilitation program
  • In addition to the above requirement, an additional six months (full-time) or equivalent supervised experience providing professional level (i.e., activities usually performed by persons in positions requiring post-Baccalaureate formal education) mental healthcare services to a population with identified mental disorders. Formal post-Baccalaureate internships and practicums may be credited towards this requirement
  • You have personal transportation with a clean 5-year driving record and Alaska vehicle insurance
