Summary/ObjectiveThe Senior IT Specialist will be responsible for IT and network infrastructure needs and will diagnose computer problems, monitor computer processing systems, install software, and perform tests on computer equipment and programs. This person will be responsible for the creation of all employee e-mail accounts, assist with implementation of e-mails and management of issues as it relates to computer needs, as well as training personnel to use programs. This person will recommend and draft security protocols, monitor security processing systems, install software, and perform tests on security equipment and programs. |
Role and Responsibilities- Ensure the streamlined operation of the IT department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization.
- The IT specialist plans, coordinates, directs and design IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department.
- The Senior IT specialist will work closely with decision-makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. The IT specialist will also define and implement IT policies, procedures and best practices.
- Identifies and procures the hardware and software needed to satisfy user requirements.
- Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals and Office Automation equipment.
- Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer and consultant contracts and service agreements.
- Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives on users’ premises.
- Loads appropriate software packages such as operating systems, networking components and office applications.
- Assists in the customization and adaptation of existing programs to meet users’ requirements.
- Provides telephone, in-person and online support to end-users.
- Coordinates activities with network services and information systems groups.
- Provides updates, status and completion information to manager and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail or in-person communication.
- Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
- Connects users to networks and provides initial training in facilities and applications.
- Administers e-mail and anti-virus systems.
- Rotates daily back-ups to media.

Education and Experience - Associate’s degree in information technology, management information systems, computer science or related field required.
- At least 2 or more years of work experience in an information technology role.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Centrix and Office 365.
- Knowledge of Active Directory PowerShell Scripts and Server Scripts.
- Thorough understanding of national and international technical processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
